Flights at Rzeszow suspended for military aviation operations
Airspace over Poland's Rzeszow airport was closed on October 19 to allow military aircraft to operate, the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency said.
RIA Novosti reported that the restriction was intended to give military aviation freedom of action. Poland's Government Security Centre linked the military activity to Russian operations in Ukraine.
A separate TASS report, citing an air traffic control source, also confirmed the suspension of arrivals and departures. The source's estimated restriction period referred to the evening of October 19.
Rzeszow is a hub for arms deliveries to Ukraine. Polish military officials have previously said that more than 95% of Western weapons and military equipment supplied to the country pass through the airport.
