Floods and storms damage homes and roads in eastern Afghanistan

Five people were reported injured in Kunar and Nangarhar provinces in a preliminary account. Local authorities are still assessing the damage after heavy rain.
Across several districts of Nangarhar, homes and agricultural land were damaged. Six rooms of a house collapsed in Behsud. Two residents suffered minor injuries from lightning in Pachiragam, AtlasPress reported, citing local officials.
In Kunar, floodwater damaged nine vehicles, seven motorcycles, 17 shops and a mosque. A flour mill was also affected in Chapa Dara district. The property damage figures remain preliminary.
Part of a road in the Digal area was destroyed, closing the route to traffic. AtlasPress and RIA Novosti, which cited Afghanistan Times, separately reported the road closure.
The number of affected families has not yet been established. Authorities are gathering information on the storm's impact, so the published figures do not constitute a final assessment of the destruction.
