Social Fund says rehabilitation centres have received more than 20,000 veterans this year

Sergey Chirkov reported progress against the 2026 target of 22,000 veterans and 4,000 accompanying people.

The head of Russia’s Social Fund spoke at a State Duma plenary session on October 13. He said more than 20,000 participants had arrived at the fund’s centres for treatment and rehabilitation. Arrivals are not the same as the number who have completed treatment.

More than 4 billion rubles has been allocated to the programme this year, Chirkov said. The annual plan provides for accompanying people as well as veterans. The fund’s own statement says people with group-one disabilities or medical indications can bring a companion whose stay is also paid for.

On health outcomes, the fund describes expected improvement for more than 90% based on Health Ministry assessment methods. That wording should not be read as an independently verified recovery rate or a guarantee for every patient.

Chirkov said he hoped to expand the rehabilitation and sanatorium-treatment project in 2027 with parliamentary support. He did not announce an approved new budget or a final participant target for that year.
