A former employee of a correctional colony in Nizhny Tagil, Sverdlovsk region, has been sentenced to six years in a general-regime prison colony for taking bribes from an inmate. The regional courts’ press service announced the verdict; local media also reported the details.
The court fined him 110,000 rubles and stripped him of the special rank of major of the internal service. According to the case findings, he received a monitor and computer repair services through an intermediary in 2025. In return, he unlawfully rewarded an inmate and did not discipline him for breaking prison rules.
In March 2026, after becoming deputy head of the detention facility attached to the colony, he received a gaming computer system unit. The court found that it was given in exchange for not holding the same inmate responsible for rule violations at a colony in Nevyansk.
The former officer partly admitted guilt. He said some of the benefits were connected to lawful actions and that he had intended to pay for the computer system.
