Four men charged with murder in St Petersburg

Investigators announced the detention of suspects in a man’s death in the Pushkin district. A decision on a preventive measure is pending.
The defendants are aged 34 to 39. Investigators allege that the attack began on October 10 in Babolovsky Park in Pushkin, where two men subjected the victim to violence, including sexual violence. Two others allegedly joined them later in an apartment on Parkovaya Street.
According to the investigation, the four men assaulted the victim and then transported him against his will to a hangar, where the violence continued. He died from his injuries. Police detained all four and brought them to investigators.
The case concerns group murder and sexual violence. St Petersburg’s Investigative Committee told RIA Novosti that the suspected motive was revenge for an earlier dispute between the victim and a relative of one defendant. That account remains the investigators’ assessment rather than a court finding. No verdict has been delivered.
