Gazprom and Lukoil start oil production at Layavozhskoye field

Gazprom and Lukoil launched pilot production at the Layavozhskoye oil, gas and condensate field in Russia's Nenets Autonomous Area on October 9, starting with oil extraction.
Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak gave the start signal. The companies announced the launch, which was also reported by NTV and Vedomosti. Development is being carried out through a joint venture under their strategic partnership.
Infrastructure built for the remote region's subarctic conditions includes roads and accommodation for workers. The next stage will involve constructing and commissioning facilities for natural gas production and transportation.
Novak linked the project's significance to developing resources in Russia's Arctic zone. NTV also reported that Gazprom had completed its underground gas storage filling plan. The broadcaster said reserves exceeded 73 billion cubic metres, a historical high for the Russian gas industry.
