Rajamahendravaram police create green corridor for donor organs

Rajamahendravaram police arranged expedited transport of donor organs to hospitals in several cities on October 9, creating a green corridor for ambulances to the airport and along the national highway, The Hindu reported.
Lungs, a liver and a kidney were taken by road and air to medical facilities in Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad. The transfers originated at KIMS Bollineni Hospital.
In an official hospital release, CEO Bollineni Advik said the family of a 34-year-old Kovvur resident consented to donation after he was declared brain-dead on October 8. He said the procedure followed the Jeevandan protocol.
Jeevandan is an Andhra Pradesh government organ donation initiative. Another kidney was transplanted into a recipient at KIMS Bollineni Hospital in Rajamahendravaram on Friday. The report did not provide outcomes for the other transplants.
