Thami Ntuli, KwaZulu-Natal premier and provincial chair of the Inkatha Freedom Party, said the IFP would work with political parties that put residents’ interests first.
Ntuli spoke to SABC News ahead of a meeting with residents of Denver Hostel in Johannesburg. IFP Johannesburg mayoral candidate Mlungisi Mabaso also joined the meeting, which was intended to hear residents’ concerns and present the party’s plan to support hostel communities.
Ntuli said cooperation would depend on shared views and a commitment to placing people at the center of political work. He distinguished provincial government cooperation from the situation in some municipalities, where, he said, political partners may have different priorities.
The IFP would not work with parties that, in Ntuli’s view, failed to prioritize public interests. He said the party remained open to cooperation with groups that shared its approach.
