Igor Shesterkin leaves Rangers game in Washington with leg injury

New York Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin needed help leaving the ice after injuring his right leg during the October 9 NHL game against Washington Capitals.
The injury occurred in the 29th minute as Shesterkin moved back towards his goalpost. He fell into the net and received medical attention on the ice. The 30-year-old could not put weight on his right leg and was helped off by teammates.
Rangers announced that Shesterkin would not return because of a lower-body injury. Dylan Garand replaced him. Shesterkin had stopped thirteen of fourteen shots before leaving, according to the game reports. Washington eventually won 3–1.
Shesterkin had won three of his previous four starts this season. He also had a goal and an assist, scoring against Tampa Bay Lightning to become the third Russian goaltender to score in an NHL game, according to RIA Novosti.
