Sydney court releases evidence photos in Beau Lamarre-Condon trial

The New South Wales Supreme Court released photographs on October 9 of items found near the bodies of Jesse Baird and Luke Davies in 2024.
The images were released during the trial of former police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, who has pleaded not guilty to two counts of murder. Baird, a former television presenter, was 26. Davies, a Qantas flight attendant, was 29.
The court heard about items found near a monastery in Bungonia, close to Goulburn. They included a fired cartridge case, a service station coffee cup, Bunnings receipts and a wallet containing Baird’s cards. Jurors heard that DNA collected from the cup matched the accused’s profile.
Former investigator Greg Moon said the cartridge case resembled ammunition used by police. A comparison found an officer at the scene carrying the same type of cartridge. Moon said it could have been ammunition supplied to police at some point.
Police found the bodies on February 27, 2024, in surfboard bags beside the monastery fence. The defence does not dispute that Lamarre-Condon moved the bodies there after the men died.
Prosecutors allege he shot both men with his service pistol at Baird’s Paddington home on February 19, 2024. The defence argues that the shots were accidental and occurred during two separate struggles. The competing accounts are being considered at trial, and Lamarre-Condon denies murder.
