BJP accuses Congress of delaying CMRL–Exalogic case after court order

BJP national executive member P K Krishnadas criticised Keralam's government on October 9 after the Kerala High Court ordered a criminal case registered against Pinarayi Vijayan and members of his family.

Speaking to reporters in Thiruvananthapuram, Krishnadas accused the Congress-led United Democratic Front government of trying to protect the former chief minister from prosecution. That accusation represents his political position.

The CMRL–Exalogic case concerns alleged payments. The court ordered the registration of an FIR, an initial report of an alleged offence, under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The people concerned include current opposition leader Pinarayi Vijayan, his daughter T. Veena and his son-in-law, former minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas.

Krishnadas said the Enforcement Directorate had sent material to the State Police Chief seeking a criminal case, but the authorities chose a preliminary inquiry. He argued that the court's intervention had prevented further delay.

He demanded an apology from Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan and linked the dispute to CPI(M)'s cooperation with Congress over protests in New Delhi seeking Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's removal. Registering an FIR begins a criminal investigation and does not establish anyone's guilt.
