Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said on Oct. 9 that it would pursue ships violating Tehran’s shipping rules beyond the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement published by the IRGC press service on Friday, Oct. 9, the corps said measures against ships violating Tehran’s navigation rules would no longer be limited to the Strait of Hormuz. RIA Novosti reported the statement from Tehran.

The IRGC warned that any vessel using an unauthorized route would be pursued and decisively punished throughout the region. The statement did not identify which waters beyond the strait it meant or cite a particular ship or incident. It described the force’s warning but gave no details of any enforcement action already taken.
