Istanbul rain death toll rises to four after worker dies in well

The death toll following heavy rain in Istanbul reached four on October 15, Anadolu reported. The latest death involved a worker who fell into a well at a school construction site in Beykoz.

Turkish media reported that worker Faik Senturk fell into the well at about 3 p.m. while pumping out water left by the previous day's flooding. Firefighters, police, medical staff and rescue teams responded.

Crews brought him out of the well and took him to Beykoz State Hospital in a serious condition. He later died. An investigation into the incident has begun.

The main downpour struck the city on October 14. Provincial Governor Davut Gul reported rainfall of two hundred and sixty-one millimetres. Rain continued in parts of Istanbul on Thursday.
