A section of National Highway 85 between Karingachira and Thiruvankulam will be widened to 14 metres, with a 20-metre roundabout planned at a congested junction.
Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob announced the plan. He said widening the road would allow vehicles to make free left turns at Thiruvankulam Junction, a current bottleneck.
The roundabout is intended to help traffic move in different directions without signals. Jacob spoke at a meeting on Thursday with officials from the National Highways Authority of India and other departments.
He also said steps would be taken to build the Chitrapuzha-Mamala Bund Road. The statement did not specify a timeline for the projects.
