Kerch defendants plead guilty in treason and terrorism preparation case

Yevgeniya Samoylova and Sergey Kozlov admitted guilt during their final statements at Russia's Southern District Military Court, a court representative told RIA Novosti on October 14.
The representative said both defendants also expressed remorse. They are charged with treason, two counts of preparing terrorist attacks, and illegally carrying explosives and explosive devices.
Sevastopol prosecutors allege that Kozlov contacted Ukrainian intelligence in September 2023 and involved Samoylova. They also accuse him of setting fire to a vehicle in Kerch in October that year, causing more than 860,000 rubles in damage.
The pair were detained in Sevastopol in April 2024. Prosecutors say they had travelled there to collect explosive-device components and that the planned attacks were prevented.
