Prosecutor seeks 22 and 28 years for two Kerch defendants in terrorism case

A prosecutor requested prison terms of 28 years for Sergey Kozlov and 22 years for Evgeniya Samoylova during closing arguments at the Southern District Military Court on October 13, a court representative told RIA Novosti.
The two Kerch residents face charges including treason and preparations for terrorist attacks. The terms requested by the prosecution are not sentences imposed by the court.
According to the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office, Kozlov contacted a representative of Ukrainian intelligence in September 2023 and brought Samoylova into cooperation. Prosecutors allege that he set fire to a car in Kerch the following month, causing damage exceeding 860,000 rubles.
Investigators also allege plans to attack railway tracks in Crimea and kill a Russian serviceman in Sevastopol. The defendants were detained in April 2024 before those alleged plans were carried out. The court had not announced a verdict in the report describing the prosecution’s sentencing request.
