Kim Yo Jong warns Seoul of response if warning shots cause harm
Workers' Party Central Committee department director Kim Yo Jong threatened a response against South Korea if warning shots harm North Korean territory or its service personnel. State news agency KCNA carried her statement.
Kim clarified that she visited the southern border on Wednesday. She corrected the agency's initial report, which dated the inspection of fortifications with North Korean Defence Ministry adviser Pak Jong Chon to Tuesday.
She accused South Korean troops of continuing to broadcast warnings through loudspeakers and fire warning shots. Kim said Pyongyang was exercising restraint and argued that North Korean warning fire would escalate tensions on the peninsula.
