Kursk prepares site for monument honouring civilian helpers
A site is being prepared in Kursk's Patriot Park for a monument titled To Civilian Hearts' Heroism, 6 August 2024, Governor Alexander Khinshtein said. He presented images of its planned relief panels.
The monument will honour people who helped Kursk region residents following the Ukrainian incursion. The governor said it would be funded through donations with support from the Popular Front and the Chelyabinsk regional government.
Alexandra Antonova, deputy chair of the Urals Federal District union of veterans of Russia's military operation in Ukraine, developed the concept. The Biryuzovy charity foundation in Chelyabinsk is responsible for implementing it.
A relief panel is intended to bring together images of young regional residents who helped others. Khinshtein recalled that Vladimir Putin instructed officials to commemorate volunteers and other civilian helpers during a visit to the region in May 2025.
