LNG tanker security fires warning shots after attack off Yemen

Armed guards on a liquefied natural gas tanker fired warning shots after a small boat shot towards the vessel off Al-Mukalla, Yemen, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency reported.

The boat fired twice towards the tanker. The security team responded with two warning shots, prompting the small craft to change course. Yemen Monitor reported that UKMTO issued its warning about the incident on Saturday.

In a separate incident, UKMTO reported that two unidentified projectiles damaged a tug near Khor Fakkan on the UAE coast. One person suffered minor injuries, and the tug continued on its route.

UKMTO figures cited by Interfax put attacks on commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz area this week at no fewer than 22.
