Luke Johnson scores five points as Metallurg wins 7–1

Metallurg beat Salavat Yulaev 7–1 at home in the KHL on October 9. Luke Johnson contributed two goals and three assists.

RIA Novosti reported that the game in Magnitogorsk ended with period scores of 4–0, 2–1 and 1–0. The hosts established a four-goal lead in the opening period.

Dmitry Silantyev scored in the second minute, followed by Alexander Siryatsky and Vladimir Tkachev in the fourth and Johnson in the 18th. Ruslan Iskhakov and Sergei Tolchinsky scored in the 26th minute, when Maxim Zagrebin also scored the visitors' only goal. Johnson completed the scoring in the 58th minute.

It was the American forward's first game with more than three points in 219 KHL appearances. Metallurg leads the Eastern Conference with 23 points, while Salavat Yulaev is fourth with 15.

On October 12, Metallurg visits Torpedo in Nizhny Novgorod. Salavat Yulaev hosts Neftekhimik that day.
