Marina Kokhal's appeal in Andy Cartwright murder case set for October 20

A court will hear Marina Kokhal's appeal against her conviction for murdering her husband, rapper Andy Cartwright, on October 20. RIA Novosti reported the hearing date on October 16, citing court documents.
Defence lawyer Irina Skurtu told the agency that the legal team had only recently been able to examine the hearing records and filed its full appeal a few days ago. The request to acquit Kokhal remains unchanged, she said.
In November 2025, St Petersburg's Smolninsky District Court found Kokhal guilty of murdering her husband and sentenced her to 12 and a half years in prison. She was taken into custody in the courtroom after the verdict.
According to the prosecution, Kokhal injected Alexander Yushko, who performed as Andy Cartwright, with a substance in July 2020 that caused shock and hypoxia. Parts of his body were subsequently found in bags in the couple's apartment.
Kokhal maintained that her husband died of a drug overdose and that she dismembered his body to make it appear he had disappeared. Her defence is seeking an acquittal on appeal.
