Max Verstappen follows Singapore sprint pole with victory

The Red Bull driver won Saturday's sprint at Marina Bay after topping Friday's sprint qualifying session.
The Red Bull driver had secured the leading grid position with a lap of 1 minute 31.156 seconds at Marina Bay. George Russell was second in sprint qualifying, 0.120 seconds behind, and Charles Leclerc took third for Ferrari. These were qualifying positions, rather than the result of the main Grand Prix.
Verstappen then won Saturday's sprint in mixed weather conditions, according to Formula 1's official report. Russell crashed out early, while McLaren team-mates Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris collided late in the race. The victory completed Verstappen's progression from the quickest qualifying lap to the sprint win.
The main Singapore Grand Prix remains a separate race on Sunday, scheduled to begin at 15:00 Moscow time. The sprint qualifying result determined the starting order for the short race, not the grid for Sunday's Grand Prix.
