McDavid joins NHL group to reach 25 points before a season’s 10th game

Connor McDavid reached 26 points through nine games to start the NHL regular season. The Edmonton captain joined the players who have reached 25 points before their 10th game of a season.

Mario Lemieux, Mike Bossy, Wayne Gretzky, Brent Sutter and Marcel Dionne had previously achieved that mark, the NHL said before Edmonton’s game against Minnesota.

McDavid had three assists as the Oilers beat the Wild 4-3 in overtime. He set up two Leon Draisaitl goals and assisted Evan Bouchard’s winner.

McDavid now has six goals and 20 assists. He has recorded a point in every one of his nine games since the start of the season.
