Memorial to fallen servicemen opens in Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky

A memorial to local residents killed in the war in Ukraine opened in Zheleznogorsk-Ilimsky in Russia's Irkutsk region on October 17, Governor Igor Kobzev said.
It stands near the Ilimskikh Partizan public garden. The head of Nizhneilimsky district proposed the memorial, with support from bereaved mothers and returning servicemen.
Residents selected the public-space design in a nationwide vote under the Infrastructure for Life national project.
The memorial features three soldiers and an LED screen displaying the names of district residents who died.
