Moscow plans veterans’ centre opening at Catherine Park by end-2027

Moscow plans to open a veterans’ support centre at Catherine Park by the end of 2027, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said during a site visit. It will occupy an existing social rehabilitation facility.

Reconstruction began in January 2026. According to city materials, the project covers two three-storey buildings with a combined floor area of 22,000 square metres.

The centre will provide social support and rehabilitation for combat veterans and assistance for their families. Plans include daytime and short-term programmes, adaptive physical education and support from dietitians, endocrinologists and sports instructors.

Sobyanin separately inspected improvements to Catherine Park. Work on approximately 17 hectares in Moscow’s Meshchansky district began in December 2025.

The park is being equipped for recreation, sport, creative activities and family leisure. The mayor plans to complete its reconstruction by the end of this year.
