Moscow steps up construction at future Luganskaya metro station

Work has intensified at Luganskaya, a planned station on Moscow’s Biryulyovskaya line. The line is scheduled to open in phases in 2028 and 2029.

The station is being built along Kavkazsky Boulevard in the Tsaritsyno district. Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said it is expected to serve about 90,000 people who live or work nearby and ease pressure on Kantemirovskaya station and the Tsaritsyno transport hub.

Plans call for two underground lobbies with exits on both sides of the boulevard. Eight lifts are planned for passengers with reduced mobility. Sobyanin said the completed line would serve about 10 districts in Moscow and the surrounding region, with daily ridership projected to exceed 165,000 in 2030.

The mayor said the line would be completed in two stages in 2028 and 2029. Interfax separately reported that the first stage, from ZIL to Pechatniki, is scheduled to open in 2028.
