Moscow Zoo's baby potto named Nimba after public vote

Moscow Zoo has named its baby potto Nimba following a vote on social media, the zoo said.

The name refers to mountains and a nature reserve on the border between Guinea and Ivory Coast, where the primates live. The zoo said Tai also attracted considerable support. Other proposed names were Saloum, Gola and Elmina.

The vote was supported by the channel of Max the bearded seal. Pottos are nocturnal primates native to West Africa. The zoo says they rarely breed in captivity.
