Mosvodostok deploys response teams during Moscow rainfall

Moscow drainage operator Mosvodostok organised standby response teams and specialist equipment across the city on October 14 to keep stormwater infrastructure functioning during rainfall.
The operator said low-lying areas and locations near public transport stops received particular attention. The deployment was intended to prevent temporary accumulations of water and maintain drainage capacity.
Staff monitored stormwater inlets and cleared grilles where necessary. Rubbish, fallen leaves and other obstructions can reduce the system’s capacity to carry rainwater away.
Earlier, Phobos weather forecaster Yevgeny Tishkovets predicted up to 15 litres of precipitation per square metre in Moscow on Wednesday. That was a forecast rather than a measured total for the day.
The operator’s announcement describes its deployment on October 14. It did not provide a count of flooded locations or report traffic stoppages or damage.
