Mosvolonter launches training in accessible volunteering and assistance

Moscow's Mosvolonter resource centre is launching three free inclusive volunteering programmes, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

A course on assisting blind and partially sighted guide-dog owners has been developed with the Russian Guide Dog Training School of the All-Russia Society of the Blind. It covers communication ethics, safety and practical accompaniment of a person and their dog, with in-person and remote classes.

A three-day intensive course with the Obychnoe Delo centre will focus on supporting people with mental disabilities. Participants will visit inclusive workshops and learn ways to communicate and help with creative and professional activities.

A training marathon for volunteers with disabilities will return for its second season. It covers skills for taking part regularly in the city's social projects.

Registration for the courses is open on the project's website, Sobyanin said.
