Pyongyang again rejects Seoul’s offer of medical aid

Kim Yo-jong called South Korea’s planned medical shipment to a Pyongyang hospital an “insult” and a “political provocation,” Yonhap reported.

The plan covered 1,431 medical items across 166 categories. South Korea’s Unification Ministry had secured an exemption from U.N. Security Council sanctions for the humanitarian program. Kim’s statement was carried by North Korea’s official KCNA news agency.

Kim said North Korea had no intention of resuming contact with the South. Her remarks came as inter-Korean dialogue channels remain largely inactive. Reuters also reported that Pyongyang described the initiative as a violation of sovereignty and a political provocation.
