Bears unveil No. 89 helmet decal in memory of Mike Ditka

The Chicago Bears unveiled a helmet decal honoring Mike Ditka ahead of their October 11 game against the Green Bay Packers. It features the No. 89 he wore as a Bears player.

Ditka died on October 9 at age 86. The tribute was prepared for the game at Lambeau Field in Green Bay. The Chicago Sun-Times reported that the decal sits on the rear left corner of the helmet.

Ditka spent six playing seasons with the Bears and became their head coach in 1982. He led Chicago to its only Super Bowl victory and remained in charge through 1992.

The Packers also announced plans for a pre-game moment of silence. Their statement recognized Ditka's contribution to football and his place in the longstanding rivalry between the two teams.
