Novosibirsk court restricts movements of man in pedestrian assault case

Novosibirsk's Oktyabrsky district court on October 17 barred a 22-year-old man in a pedestrian assault case from leaving home in the evening and at night. An investigator had requested pretrial detention, regional police said.
According to police, a Mercedes-Benz driver reversing near a cafe hit a 49-year-old pedestrian on October 15. The driver got out, argued with the man and struck his torso. The pedestrian was hospitalised with injuries classified as grievous bodily harm.
Police identified the driver as a local man who practises combat sports professionally. He was placed in a temporary detention facility after his arrest.
The case is being investigated under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code, covering intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm. The court imposed restrictions on specified actions.
