Novokuznetsk police detain suspect in assault on 14-year-old

Police detained a 34-year-old Novokuznetsk resident suspected of injuring a teenager near a bus stop. The man was handed to investigators, the Kemerovo regional police department said.
Authorities had reported the assault on the 14-year-old and opened a criminal hooliganism case on Wednesday. The boy was taken to hospital. Police initially sought two men and a woman.
Officers also identified two people who were with the suspect during the incident. Administrative reports were drawn up against all three for drinking alcohol in prohibited places and petty hooliganism.
The two men, aged 34 and 35, received fines of one thousand roubles each. The 35-year-old woman was fined one thousand five hundred roubles. Those penalties concern the administrative offences.
The Investigative Committee said the suspect had been questioned. A decision on a preventive measure in the criminal case is expected shortly.
