Ontario police confirm two deaths in light aircraft crash near Fergus
Two people died when a light aircraft crashed near Fergus in Ontario, Canada. Police confirmed the death toll on October 10, a day after the aircraft came down.
Emergency services responded at about 10:15 a.m. on Friday to a field near Beatty Line and Wellington Road 17, according to an Ontario Provincial Police statement reproduced by EloraFergusToday.
The aircraft caught fire after the crash. Responders extinguished the flames, and both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Police reported no other injuries.
The Transportation Safety Board told CityNews that an amateur-built Skybolt biplane had left the Fergus airfield at about 10 a.m. for a local aerobatic training flight.
The cause has not been established. The Transportation Safety Board is continuing to gather and analyse information about the crash.
