PSG lose Nuno Mendes ahead of Barcelona match

Paris Saint-Germain defender Nuno Mendes will miss the Champions League match against Barcelona on 20 October with a thigh injury. The Paris club says his recovery will take several weeks.

Mendes injured his left thigh against Strasbourg, according to PSG’s medical update. The French club, whose squad includes Russian goalkeeper Matvei Safonov, will host the Catalan side.

Barcelona will be without Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia for the match. Garcia has a right-thigh injury and could be sidelined for up to four weeks. Kounde has a sprain in his left ankle.

Barcelona face Real Madrid in the Spanish league on 25 October. Kounde’s availability for that match remains uncertain.
