RBC reports restrictions on Georgian wine, water and Coca-Cola

Rospotrebnadzor has temporarily suspended Russian imports and sales of several Georgian alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, RBC reported on October 10, citing a document from the regulator and an alcohol-market source.
The document attributed the measure to products failing requirements for sensory characteristics, physical and chemical properties, and safety. RBC said the temporary sanitary restriction was introduced under a decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission’s Council.
The list includes wines from Teliani Valley, Tbilvino and Wineman, wine and cognac from Askaneli Brothers, and beer from Georgian Beer Company. It also covers Georgian-produced Coca-Cola and Nabeghlavi mineral water from Healthy Water.
The reported measure concerns the named drinks and producers rather than all Georgian products. RBC sought responses from the regulator, a retailers’ association and retail chains. No separate public confirmation from Rospotrebnadzor was available when the report appeared.
