Likhachev says sanctions are causing systemic harm to the United States

Rosatom head Alexey Likhachev told journalists that sanctions were beginning to cause systemic harm to major economies, including the United States. RIA Novosti reported his comments on October 10 after a call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
Supplies of petroleum products to American and global markets were among the subjects discussed by the presidents. Likhachev linked that discussion to the economic consequences of sanctions.
In his assessment, the restrictions have reached a point at which they also damage the United States systemically. The statement reflects the Rosatom chief’s view of the economic effects of sanctions policy.
His remarks followed the conversation between the Russian and American leaders. They concern restrictions’ consequences for major participants in the world economy and the discussion of petroleum products, rather than a Rosatom announcement of a new contract or operational change.
