Reports say police examine Flávio Bolsonaro's links to lawyer

Brazilian federal police are examining suspected money laundering involving presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro and lawyer Willer Tomaz, O Globo reported. Both deny wrongdoing.

According to the newspaper, the inquiry is before Brazil's Supreme Court under Justice Alexandre de Moraes. Folha de S.Paulo also reported that police had sent the court a request for an investigation.

The case stems from an investigation in Rio Grande do Sul into suspected money laundering and illegal transfers abroad through betting platforms. Investigators are examining Tomaz's role in Rede Loto, which obtained a Rio de Janeiro state operating licence in May 2023.

O Globo said police examined the lawyer's messages and emails after obtaining judicial permission. The records reportedly revealed financial links to Bolsonaro and at least five shared foreign trips in the first half of 2025, including visits to South Africa, Portugal and France.

The newspaper also reported that Tomaz provided Bolsonaro with an apartment in São Paulo for campaign use in August. A separate Supreme Court inquiry concerns financing for Dark Horse, a film about the candidate's father, former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Flávio Bolsonaro called the report false. Tomaz denied irregularities and questioned the disclosure of information just hours before Sunday's presidential debate.
