Reuters: Hezbollah received $200 million from Iran to aid displaced Lebanese

Two people with direct knowledge of the transfer told Reuters that Hezbollah received $200 million from Iran to support Lebanese residents displaced by the war with Israel.

The sources said the money arrived in September. Intermediaries who moved it charged a 20% fee. One source said that was four times the usual rate. The amount and transfer have not been independently verified.

A Hezbollah official told Reuters that funds had been secured and a distribution plan would be announced in the coming days, but did not identify the source of the money. The sources said the group plans to make an initial payment of $3,000 to each family. Priority would go to families from destroyed villages or places residents cannot return to. One source estimated the number at about 50,000 families.

Reuters described the transfer as the group’s first significant aid to supporters affected by the war. In September, Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the group would contribute to a project to house thousands of displaced people using available resources and donations.
