Mecka AI said it raised a $60 million Series B led by Sequoia. The startup collects human-motion data to help train humanoid and other robots.
Nvidia, Microsoft-linked venture fund M12 and other investors also participated. TechCrunch had earlier reported that Mecka was nearing a new round at a valuation of about $500 million. That was a preliminary estimate tied to talks, not a disclosed valuation for the current deal.
Founded in 2024, Mecka aims to build a robotics data layer comparable to what data-labeling providers created for large language models. It pays people to record everyday tasks, such as making coffee or repairing cars, using smartphones and body sensors.
The recordings are intended to help robots learn from physical actions and interactions. TechCrunch lists XDOF among other companies collecting real-world data for robot training. Data platforms that initially focused on language models, including Scale AI and Micro1, are also expanding into robotics.
