Rusprofile finds foreign carmakers retaining revenue-generating Russian companies
At least nine foreign carmakers that scaled back their main Russian businesses retained local companies that continue to earn revenue, RIA Novosti reported, citing a Rusprofile study.
BMW retained BMW Russland Trading, BMW Leasing and BMW Bank in Russia. The trading and leasing businesses generated combined revenue of about 6.5 billion rubles in 2025, according to the study. The group had previously said it would continue supplying spare parts and servicing vehicles for the Russian market after stopping vehicle production and deliveries.
After selling its St Petersburg plant, Hyundai retained Hyundai Truck and Bus Rus and Hyundai Capital Services. Together with Kia Russia and CIS, owned by Kia's European entities, they generated approximately 4.2 billion rubles in revenue in 2025, Rusprofile said.
Porsche, part of Volkswagen Group, retained Porsche Russland, Porsche Financial Services Russland and Porsche Centre Moscow. The researchers put their combined 2025 revenue at about 1.2 billion rubles.
The study also identified a continuing presence by Toyota, Mitsubishi Motors, Stellantis, Honda and Suzuki. Former Russian operations of Renault, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Mazda, Volvo Group and Jaguar Land Rover, however, passed to local owners. Their continued operation is therefore separate from the businesses of their former foreign owners.
