Russia grants citizenship to German RT journalist Dagmar Henn

German RT journalist Dagmar Henn has been granted Russian citizenship under a decree signed by President Vladimir Putin.

Decree No. 748, published on Russia's official legal information portal, concerns admission to Russian citizenship. RIA Novosti identifies the journalist in the document as Dagmar Ingeborg Henn.

Henn moved to Russia in May 2022 at RT's invitation to work for its German-language news service. In April 2024, Interior Ministry spokesperson Irina Volk announced that she had received asylum.

RT identified Henn as a co-author of the book Honest Donbass. The broadcaster said she risked prosecution in Germany over the publication's treatment of the war in Ukraine.

RIA also lists French-born Arnaud Olivier Georges Sagnard and his children, Ecuadorian-born Maria Isabel Cevallos Simancas and her children, Germany's Ralf Sensel, France's Melanie Tiphaine Sauvage, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Dragan Saric and Ukraine's Vladislav Shved among the recipients.
