Russia proposes five-year readmission restriction after disciplinary expulsion

Russia's Ministry of Science and Higher Education has proposed barring students expelled as a disciplinary sanction from readmission to the same university for five years. The restriction appears in a draft order.
The proposed period would run from the date of expulsion. The wording concerns the institution that imposed the disciplinary sanction, rather than setting a general ban on admission to all Russian universities.
If adopted, the order would take effect on March 1, 2027 and remain valid until September 1, 2029. Those dates describe its proposed duration and do not establish that it has been approved.
Interfax and RIA Novosti reported on the proposal on October 13. The document remains a proposal, so the restriction should not be treated as an admission rule already in force.
