Russia’s antitrust service reports 5% Pentalgin Neo price reduction

OTCPharm reduced the medicine’s price after the Federal Antimonopoly Service asked it to review its pricing approach.

The service announced the change on October 13. Its statement concerns Pentalgin Neo in the No. 20 pack. The regulator said the product is outside Russia’s list of vital and essential medicines, meaning its price is not subject to state regulation.

The service asked the company to develop socially responsible pricing mechanisms. It cited demand for the medicine and the need for accessible, economically justified prices. The company itself made the decision to reduce the price.

The regulator said it was pursuing similar work on other medicines in the pharmacy market but did not identify them or announce results. It also gave no pack price before or after the change. The reported 5% reduction therefore does not establish a new ruble price or demonstrate an identical retail reduction in every pharmacy.
