Murashko reports a 40% decline in repeat heart attacks in Russia

Repeat myocardial infarctions in Russia have fallen by 40% compared with 2019, Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said on October 10 at a congress focused on combating thrombosis.
The minister compared the level before the period under discussion with the current figure. His 40% estimate specifically concerns repeat myocardial infarctions. It does not describe a reduction in all first and repeat heart attacks combined, or a change in deaths from them.
Murashko made the statement at the fourth national congress with international participation, Thrombosis Prevention Day in Russia. He presented the reduction in repeat heart attacks as a Russia-wide measure to participants at the meeting.
The comparison he described therefore covers the period from 2019 to the present. Murashko gave a relative reduction in repeat cases, rather than an absolute count of patients who had suffered a heart attack.
