Russia to pilot school television project in 15 regions by Oct. 15

Russia's Education Ministry is launching a pilot of its School Television project in 15 regions. More than 1,500 schools are equipped to connect to the federal broadcast.

The first participants will be schools in the Republic of Mordovia and the Moscow, Kaliningrad, Voronezh, Tula, Lipetsk, Tambov, Belgorod, Vladimir, Ryazan, Yaroslavl, Ulyanovsk, Kaluga, Orenburg and Smolensk regions. The launch there is planned by Oct. 15.

According to the project press service, more than 1,500 schools in those regions already have the infrastructure needed to connect. They will carry the federal broadcast at the initial stage. The project is operated by the autonomous nonprofit School Television organization, whose editorial team prepares and adapts content and schedules broadcasts.

Education Minister Sergei Kravtsov previously said the unified school television service was expected to reach all schools in Russia from 2027.
