Neurologist Conrado Estol outlines seven habits for healthy aging

Argentine neurologist Conrado Estol says quality of life should matter alongside lifespan. He highlighted stress management, sleep, exercise and social connection among key habits.

In an interview with La Nación, Estol also stressed having a sense of purpose and maintaining an optimistic outlook. He argued against the idea that retirement should mean passivity and encouraged people to remain active as they age.

The neurologist listed seven habits he believes support healthy aging: managing stress, maintaining social ties, sleeping well, avoiding tobacco, moderating alcohol, eating a healthy diet and exercising.

Estol urged young people and adults under 50 to think about prevention early. If anxiety cannot be eased through habits, he said, people should consult a health professional. He added that patients should not fear medication prescribed by a doctor.
