Russia’s Defence Ministry said on October 7 that it had released footage of Geran drone strikes on a cargo ship at Yuzhny port and a fuel-and-lubricants facility at Chornomorsk port.
According to RIA Novosti, citing the Russian ministry, the dry-cargo vessel at Yuzhny was used to deliver military supplies for Ukraine’s armed forces. The ministry also reported a strike on a fuel-and-lubricants storage facility at the seaport of Chornomorsk. Both locations are in Odesa region.
On October 7, the ministry said it had published video that, it claimed, showed the targets being hit in real time. The videos were not included in the dispatched material, so their contents and the consequences of the strikes could not be independently assessed from this item.
RIA’s headline refers to a cargo ship and storage facility at Chornomorsk, while the body places the vessel at Yuzhny and the storage site at Chornomorsk. This article follows the locations given in the body. Claims about the cargo’s purpose and the results of the strikes are attributed to Russia’s Defence Ministry.
