Safonov fears Kazan pitch could disrupt Dynamo’s passing game

Konstantin Tyukavin’s agent, Aleksey Safonov, said the pitch in Kazan could make Dynamo’s match against Rubin more difficult. Sport-Express published his comments on October 10 ahead of the Russian Premier League’s tenth round.
Safonov said Dynamo had played well before the break and built strong momentum. He hoped the team would maintain that level, but identified the quality of the playing surface as his main concern before the trip to Kazan.
In his view, the pitch could hinder ball control and combination play. He also recounted a joke from Tyukavin that someone should at least paint grass onto the field before the match. That describes Safonov’s assessment and a remark he attributed to the forward.
Rubin and Dynamo are scheduled to meet in Kazan on October 11, as confirmed by the Moscow club’s fixture list. Sport-Express reported that Dynamo entered the round with 19 points in third place in the Russian championship.
