Sberbank reports 24.1% rise in nine-month net interest income

Sberbank's net interest income reached 2.77 trillion rubles in January–September 2026. Pretax profit increased 26.1% to 2.03 trillion rubles.
The bank earned 168.5 billion rubles in net profit in September, up 12.1% from a year earlier. Return on equity was 23.4% for the month and 23% for the nine-month period. The results were released on October 9.
Loans issued to individuals reached 742 billion rubles in September, the highest monthly volume this year. The retail loan portfolio rose 1.9% to 20.3 trillion rubles. Family mortgage lending accounted for 302.8 billion rubles, 2.2 times the August volume. Total mortgage issuance reached 445 billion rubles.
The bank attributed family mortgage demand to anticipated changes in government programmes from October 1. Its corporate loan portfolio grew 1.2% during the month to 32.8 trillion rubles. Overdue debt represented 3% at the end of September.
Individuals' account balances and deposits rose 0.7% to 34.7 trillion rubles. Nine-month operating expenses increased 14.6% to 915.2 billion rubles, while net fee and commission income fell 0.8% to 534.6 billion rubles.
September provisions and revaluation of loans measured at fair value totalled 48.4 billion rubles. The bank said ruble appreciation significantly influenced this figure.
